名前の由来

モモンガの女の子トビーのお話を読んで、「女の子なのになぜトビー？」と思った方も多いでしょうから、（え？思わない？いやいや）名前の由来についてお話ししましょう。
お店にモモンガのベビーが入りますと、お店が閉まったあとはオーナーが家に連れて帰ってきます。なにしろベビーなので保温とか、ミルクとか、いろいろとお世話をしなくてはなりません。
それに、お嫁にいくまでになるべく人馴れするようにというのもあります。
そんな中にときどきインパクトの強い子がおりまして、わが家でのニックネームがついてしまうことがあるのです。
たとえば「ミルクまみれちゃん」。
なぜかしょっちゅうミルクのお皿にはまってしまい、いつもミルクで毛がカピカピだったので。
この子はちゃんとお嫁にいって、すっかり大きくなり、可愛がってもらっているそうです。いまは飼い主さんから素敵な名前で呼ばれていることでしょう。
（もしかしてウチの子か？と思った飼い主さん。そうかもしれません。）
トビーはベビーのころからすばしっこくて、つかもうとするとすぐに跳ぶ、やたらと跳ぶ、とにかく跳ぶもので、自然とトビーと呼ばれるようになったのでした。お客さんの手からも何度跳んだか分かりません。
この子はお嫁にいけないかもなぁ・・・、というわたしの予感は的中してしまい、いつしかトビーはわが家の二匹目のモモンガになりました。なのであだ名がそのまま名前になってしまったわけです。
そもそもうちにいる間だけのニックネームのつもりなので、女の子か男の子かなんて考えてないわけですよ。
ミルクまみれちゃんがお残りしなくてよかったな。長いから。
